As we proceed into uncharted territory there is one thing that we trial lawyers know and that is we have a duty, a responsibility, to our seriously injured clients to press on as we lead them on the road to justice. We have to adapt. You may have been wanting to get some focused time in on one of your cases, and the virus has done two things – it’s made travel impossible, and it has freed up calendars due to court closings, etc. Let’s do a session remotely using Zoom! if you’ve got something that warrants the time. If you haven’t used Zoom! before you will be pleasantly surprised.
I have used Zoom for work sessions with 3 firms in the past 2 weeks, and I have 2 more firms set in the next 2 weeks. It has worked well for everyone. I did one work session with an attorney who was in his home office with his 2 dogs while I had my Stella sleeping at my feet. I would be glad to put you in touch with any of these firms if you would like a reference.
The way this works is that I would send you, and anyone else who is observing or participating, an email with a link for the day of our meeting.
We would all see and hear each other on our laptop screens, and you would be able to see my screen during our session. Anyone involved can work from their home or office as long as they have an internet connection.
If you are interested I have also done some online focus groups as part of this and we’ve gotten some good information. There is some preparation to layout the key questions and attitudes we want to measure, along with a narrative of the case so they have context. Our charges are very competitive.
