Trial Consultant Phillip Miller

Trial Consultant Phillip Miller Can Help You Win Your Case

Nashville trial consultant and personal injury lawyer Phillip Miller is an experienced “…in the courtroom…” trial lawyer, having tried dozens of cases to verdict and taken over 1000 depositions. He has a deep understanding of the techniques of persuasion as well as juror learning and decision-making. Phillip is a board-certified civil trial specialist, a “Super Lawyer,” and has been selected seven times as a faculty member for the American Association of Justice program, “The Art of Persuasion” at Harvard Law School.

Phillip is nationally recognized for his expertise as a teacher, writer, and for his work conducting depositions. Along with his colleague Attorney Paul Scoptur, Phillip is the author of Advanced Deposition Strategy and Practice, a text used for advanced training of lawyers in depositions skills at the American Association for Justice “Advanced Deposition College.”

Phillip’s expertise in designing, moderating, and analyzing focus group deliberations was the basis for his newest book “Focus Groups, Hitting the Bullseye” published by AAJ press in December 2016.

Phillip’s career as a Trial Consultant began in 1999 when a California trial-consulting firm asked him to share his skills with them. During the next three years, Phillip would spend a week in California immersing himself in the cases seen by the consulting practice and then return to Nashville to tend to his own personal injury practice.

During this time, Phillip worked with some of the biggest corporate law firms and corporate trial consultant firms in the country. He immersed himself in the science of juror learning and decision-making, and he observed dozens of focus groups, most of them on complex, multimillion-dollar cases.

It wasn’t long before law firms began independently hiring Phillip for help with cases, and his trial consulting practice began in earnest. Phillip has worked with law firms all over the United States on their case and deposition strategy and conducted hundreds of focus groups across the country.
